Conversation with a coworker

"Wait, your husband is an officer?"

"Yeah."

"Wow. So, why are you working here?"

What I said "Well, *random lame ramblings about my love of libraries and massive student debt*"

What I was thinking, "I really have no idea."

Disclaimer: I love my job. But this was at the end of a looooooooong day.

Wow, if being married to an officer means people won't expect me to have a job, I am eloping with LT as soon as he gets home! I need a break! :-D

Here's your reason - you are working at the lbrary to keep me inspired to jump back on the horse of grad school and get my MLS. :-p

Ha! Most people don't seem to think that way, but every now and again I run into someone (usually older-my mom's age or older) who is floored that I work.

This particular person wasn't so much saying that she didn't expect me to work as that she was shocked I was willing to put up with so much crap from a job that I don't "need".

In my experience, people expect me to have a job but not need one. Which is strange to me, since I've never in my life *not* needed a job.
